ACCOMMODATION

Quality Homestay Accommodation

Living with an Ausralian family is a great way to make friends, practise English and learn about Australian culture.

Teenage Students

College policy is for teenage international students to live in fully supervised accommodation, either with parents or with homestay families arranged by the College. Living with English-speaking families will be an advantage to students wishing to improve their language skills.

The College Homestay Program places international students into Christian families who are committed to the care and well being of the visiting student. Many of these families have children who are students at the College.

Homestay families are chosen from the Church and College community. They are selected with regard to the following guidelines:

  • The homestay provider must be an adult resident in Australia and must provide a stable family environment.
  • An adult deemed suitable by the College must provide supervision equivalent to that provided by a parent.
  • The family environment must be suitable for the age and gender of the student, and English should be the main language spoken in the home.
  • The homestay family will be regular church attendees who will take the student to church with them each week.
  • No more than two students are to be placed in one homestay.  The number of students in a homestay should reflect the facilities available in the home.
  • The accommodation and facilities provided by the homestay must meet the College’s requirements for a safe and secure environment, and the College must be notified of any changes.
  • No student will be placed with a homestay until the accommodation has been inspected and approved.
  • All homestay providers must be holders of Blue Cards issued by the Commission for Children and Young People.  In addition, every person living with the homestay family who is 18 years or over must be in possession of a current Blue Card.
  • The College will undertake regular, on at least an annual basis, on-site visits to homestay families to view the accommodation offered.
  • The student should provide at least two weeks notice if leaving a homestay.
  • The host family should provide at least two weeks notice if terminating a homestay arrangement.

The Headmaster must approve all accommodation arrangements.

Adult Students

A range of accommodation options is available for adult students.  The College will assist students to find accommodation that suits their needs.  Limited accommodation may be available on campus, or students may prefer homestay accommodation with a local family.  Share accommodation is also available nearby.
